Éva Fahidi was 20-years-old when she returned to Hungary from Auschwitz-Birkenau. She was completely alone, 49 members of her family having been murdered by the Nazis, including her mother, father and younger sister. 70 years later, at the age of 90, Éva is asked to participate in a dance-theatre performance about her life. Réka Szabó, the director, imagines a duet between Éva and Emese, a young, internationally acclaimed dancer. Réka wants to see these two women, old and young, interact on stage, to see how their bodies and stories can intertwine. The three women, working over a three-month period in a powerfully collaborative fashion, distil key moments of Éva’s extraordinary life into an immersive theatrical experience.
