The IFI is saddened to learn of the passing of trailblazing Irish LGBTQ+ activist Edmund Lynch.
IFI Director/ CEO Ross Keane said, ‘All of us at IFI were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Edmund Lynch. Ed (as he was always known to us) was one of the leading figures of the gay rights movement in Ireland, and a true activist. He was one of our most regular patrons at IFI, regularly holding court in the foyer over coffees, meetings and chats. He always had a tale (or more!) to share, and he really became part of the extended IFI family over the years. Ed clearly had a special place in his heart for IFI, and we were delighted when he decided to celebrate his wedding here with us at IFI a few years ago. The IFI Foyer has lost a special character. He’ll be missed by everyone at IFI. Our deepest condolences to his family.’
