THE MAN WHO INVENTED CHRISTMAS (IFI FAMILY)

Director: BHARAT NALLURI

104 mins, Ireland-Canada, 2017, Digital

This film screened on 22nd December 2019.

For this unusual adaptation of A Christmas Carol, we go behind the scenes of Charles Dickens’s imagination, to see how he might have come up with the characters of his much-loved tale. Dan Stevens (Downton Abbey) plays Dickens, much put upon in his packed family home, who goes for a wander around London, trying to complete and publish a story in time for Christmas.

Interacting with potential characters, including a terrific Christopher Plummer as Scrooge, the film hints at what may have been the workings of the great writer, while showing us Victorian London in all its chaotic, seasonal glory.

Tickets: €5.50 per person, €16.50 family ticket (2 adults + 2 children, 1 adult + 3 children).
