The droll, elegant performance style of Bill Nighy complements this study of retired reclusive Merseyside tailor Alan, who directs the fastidiousness of his working life into Scrabble games. When his favourite son departs in a row, Alan finds himself searching for him over a number of years, while his elder son Peter,
frets about never being good enough.

Penned by Frank Cottrell Boyce, this is a tender, articulate exploration of family communication and the impact of pride and stubbornness.
