INVESTIGATIONS 2016: LEGACY AND LEGAL CHALLENGES: THE GALLAGHER STORY

Director: Mary Raftery

53 mins, Ireland, 2016

This film screened 14th October 2016.

This Today Tonight investigation for RTÉ told the story of how former property tycoon Patrick Gallagher’s business empire collapsed leaving 600 small depositors without their savings. It was broadcast almost three months after its scheduled transmission because of representations made
by the Director of Public Prosecutions to RTÉ that it might prejudice a future trial.

The screening will be followed by discussion and audience Q&A chaired by broadcaster and  journalist Miriam O’Callaghan with Jim Sheridan (Oscar-nominated producer/director) and Frank McDonald (Former Enviromental Editor of The Irish Times).
