A mind-bending mixture of romance, comedy, and science-fiction, Earthbound dives into the world of Joe Norman (Rafe Spall), a reclusive nerd raised to believe he is an alien refugee fleeing a war in another galaxy. Living in isolation and working menial jobs, Joe’s isolation is shattered when he meets the quirky Maria (Jenn Murray) and discovers, through his technology, that the pair are a genetic match. Despite his bumbling knowledge of relationships the two grow close until he reveals what he believes himself to be; in response, Maria is compelled to shatter his illusions and reluctantly expose the holes in his story. Swelling with references to classics of science-fiction Earthbound is riven with twists as Joe’s ideas about reality and his purpose in life come under assault.
