A GIRL WALKS HOME ALONE AT NIGHT (IFI EVENING COURSE: IN THEORY)

Director: Ana Lily Amirpour

101 mins, U.S.A., 2014, English Subtitles, Horror

FEMINISM

A vampire in full chador skateboards through the streets of an Iranian town known as Bad City. Iranian-American filmmaker, Ana Lily Amirpour, wowed Sundance critics with the offbeat charm, humour and great soundtrack of her debut feature.

Lecturer and writer Dr. Jorie Lagerwey will analyze Amirpour’s film and the ways its moody tone and stylish black and white aesthetic helps it flip the often anti-feminist stories of horror movies and westerns into a feminist tale.

This event is taking place as part of the IFI Evening Course: In Theory (Tuesdays, Oct 6th – Nov 10th). Full course price: €70 (€65 concessions), including tea/coffee. Please book your place by calling Sharon Corrigan on 01 679 5744 or emailing   scorrigan@irishfilm.ie (individual tickets for films on this Course are not available.
