Brothers Kanta and Junpei live happily on the island of Shikotan until the end of the Second World War when the island’s borders are altered. Russian occupation begins and with the new occupants comes Tanya, daughter of the Russian commander. Inspired by reallife events, this new anime is a beautiful depiction of a childhood friendship overcoming the obstacles of language, culture and history.
