THE ODYSSEY

Director: Christopher Nolan

172 mins, UK-USA, 2026, 70mm.

Although previous Christopher Nolan films have been grand in scale, this adaptation of the classic poem by Homer, showing exclusively on 70mm at the IFI, is of another order of spectacle entirely, harkening back to the swords-and-sandals and historical epics of bygone Hollywood. Following his victory against Troy, Odysseus (Matt Damon) returns home to wife Penelope (Anne Hathaway) and son Telemachus (Tom Holland) on a decade-long journey filled with incident.
