THE ENCLOSURE OF TIME + WHEELS AND REELS

Director: Jean-Charles Fitoussi / Yann Le Quellec

The enclosure of Time; 64 Minutes, France, 2012.

The Enclosure of Time, winner of this year’s Prix Jean Vigo, is the eighth instalment in director Jean-Charles Fitoussi’s series of films in which chance plays a leading role. Here, Théo visits his ill grandfather in Italy. However, when the doctor who had previously saved his life is summoned, he sends instead a young nurse with mysterious healing powers.

Wheels And Reels, which won the Jean Vigo Short Film Prize after showing at Cannes’ Directors’ Fortnight, sees a postman ordered out of retirement by the local mayor to lead a group of younger cyclists in advertising the opening of the local cinema. (Notes by Kevin Coyne.)

Director’s note: A zany comedy where we meet Bernard Hinault and dream of Jacques Rozier.

This film is showing as part of the Carte Noire IFI French Film Festival (November 20th – December 1st, 2013).
