Gibbons’s glorious art deco sets add fizz to this sparkling 1933 comedy. George Cukor’s classic focuses on Mrs Oliver Jordan, a social butterfly hosting the perfect dinner party to benefit her husband’s business dealings.

By then the most revered studio in Hollywood, MGM’s hit has a whole lot of fun with the comedy of errors that follows, and the determination of the host that no matter what happens, dinner shall be served on time. An on-form cast makes the most of the pithy script.

Screening as part of our Cedric Gibbons retrospective – February 26th- March 2nd.
