INDIAN FILMS AT THE IFC
Indian films are screened at the IFC on the first Saturday and Sunday of every month, with performances commencing at 12 noon. The prints shown are original versions and don’t usually carry English subtitles. February’s film is Padam Kumar’s Champion, a comic variation on The Bodyguard, with Sunny Deol as a simpleton from a village in the Punjab who dreams of becoming a super cop but ends up being assigned to protect a nine-year-old boy. (Please note that this film plays on the second weekend of February, 10th and 11th.) Sunny Deol also stars in March’s film, Raj Kanwar’s Farz, another honest-cop-versus-the-underworld saga, which lays emphasis on blood, bullets and explosions.
