ENO

Director: GARY HUSTWIT

90 mins, UK-USA, 2024, Digital

“What is particularly striking, however, uniting most critics so far, is how elegantly the film flows; there is a curious, intuitive logic weaving together these randomly chosen scenes and clips. It’s an outstanding achievement.” – The Guardian (UK)

Visionary musician and artist Brian Eno, known for producing David Bowie, U2, Talking Heads, among many others, reveals his creative process in Gary Hustwit’s ground-breaking film, where no two screenings are alike. Defying the hagiographic impulses of the music doc genre, Eno draws from original interviews and the artist’s own staggering archive of unseen footage and unreleased music, as well as Hustwit’s original interviews. Utilising a proprietary software system developed by the director and digital artist Brendan Dawes, Eno offers millions of possible variations. The result is a viewing experience that resonates with Eno’s own artistic practice, his use of technology to compose music, and his endlessly pursuit of innovation.

A different version of Eno will screen on each listed date.
