Dead Meat

Director:

Ireland| 2004. 87 mins.

This year’s festival of horror and fantasy films opens with the European premiere of Dead Meat, a new Irish feature produced by festival organisers Edward King and Michael Griffin and directed by Conor McMahon. It combines the delightfully eccentric humour that characterised McMahon’s celebrated short Braineater (in which a hurling stick proved a handy weapon against a zombie) with more elaborate variations on the theme of fighting for survival in the Irish countryside after a ‘mad cow’ has unleashed an army of the ‘undead’.
