BREAKING INTO DOCUMENTARY (FREE EVENT)

A session with documentary makers about making the first steps in a documentary career. This session, featuring leading professional Irish documentary directors and producers, will explore key points including the best sources of funding, the important technical skills to learn, finding your creative voice, the benefits of making a short and learning about festival strategies.

Maurice Sweeney – multiple IFTA-winner is one of Ireland’s most experienced and successful documentary makers.

Richie O’Donnell – director of one of the most powerful recent Irish documentaries, O’Donnell started The Pipe by employing a DIY self-shooting approach.

Aisling Ahmed – producer of BBC Storyville’s Horses and recent Eurovision doc Amazing Azerbaijan, Ahmed has developed her career between Ireland and the UK.

Seán Ó Cualáin – following on from a number of TG4 projects, O’Cualain recently launched the impressive Men At Lunch, which has enjoyed an impressive life across the Atlantic.
