SCREENING FROM AUGUST 28th

After the death of her mother, advertising director Elsa (Bárbara Lennie) throws herself into her work before escaping to Lanzarote with a close friend, where unresolved desires and buried anxieties surface. Interweaving Elsa’s story, set in 2004, with that of Raul (Leonardo Sbaraglia), a contemporary filmmaker shaping her experiences into fiction, Almodóvar creates a self-reflexive, multi-layered meditation on how life provides the raw materials for artistic creation and the betrayals than can ensue, rendered in his unmistakably vibrant, primary colour-saturated style.
