Over seventy years since her introduction to the world, the star of over forty animated feature films and figurehead of a billion dollar industry makes her live-action debut in Greta Gerwig’s BarbieBarbie (Margot Robbie) and Ken (Ryan Gosling) live a perfect life in Barbieland, their days an endless whirl of beaches, rollerblades, and dance parties, their greatest problem being aspiring love rival Ken (Simu Liu). However, when Barbie begins to wonder if there is more to her existence, this curiosity leads her to seek out the advice of Barbie (Kate McKinnon), who advises her to make the dangerous journey to the real world. Accompanied by Ken, she must navigate this strange new place, eventually coming to the attention of the CEO of Mattel (Will Ferrell), creators of the doll, for whom Barbie and Ken pose strange and difficult problems.
