A proponent of a personal cinema shaped by direct experience, Nightshift exemplifies Rose’s eye for identifying key collaborators, enlisting American independent filmmaker Jon Jost as cinematographer and Simon Jeffes of the Penguin Cafe Orchestra as composer. Screening with an introduction by pioneering filmmaker Pat Murphy. Pat was a founding member of feminist film distributor Circles alongside Robina Rose (Director of Nightshift). Pat has selected Maya Deren’s Meshes of the Afternoon to accompany this special screening. Nightshift was restored on behalf of Lightbox Film Center with The British Film Institute & Cinenova.
