Director: ENDA HUGHES / CONOR MCPHERSON
95 minutes, U.K.-Ireland, 2001, Colour, 35mm
We are delighted to have the Director of the Gate Theatre, Michael Colgan, introducing this film.
These films are selected from the Beckett On Film series – a project which committed to film all 19 of Beckett’s plays (the unperformed Eleutheria excepted) using a remarkable list of acting and directing talent, including Karel Reisz, John Gielgud, David Mamet, Harold Pinter, John Hurt, Julianne Moore, Neil Jordan, and, in Endgame, Michael Gambon and David Thewlis, to name just a few.
On completion, all 19 were screened (over a memorable marathon weekend) at the IFI. We are pleased to have been involved in such a cultural landmark project, and to present these rare films from the collection. (Notes by Kevin Coyne.)
This film is screening as part of 20/20: Landmark Films at the IFI which is part of IFI20: Celebrating 20 Years in Temple Bar.
