Espen – ‘ash lad’ – is a workshy farmer’s son. The farm is in trouble, and when Princess Kristin is kidnapped by the hideous Mountain King, Espen realises their only chance is to find the princess and claim the reward. Together with his brothers, they embark on a quest using a magic map and a sword named Tvegir, with lots of adventure, shapeshifting spirits and ancient spells along the way.
