CULTURE NIGHT: SHORT AND SWEET

This is a FREE event – simply collect your ticket on the night, before the showings at 18.15, 19.00 & 19.45.

The IFI celebrates Culture Night with free screenings of Irish shorts from the IFI Irish Film Archive.

Three distinct programmes of family-friendly films, dating from the 1940s to the present day, offer audiences a tour through the history of short film production in Ireland. The programme includes films made for and about children and young people, and is guaranteed to entertain and inform audiences with a colourful array of newsreels, animations, dramas and public information films.

Highlights include:
Programme 1 – 18.15 
Boy Wanted, a 1940s Dublin tale of delivery boy divilment
Programme 2 – 19.00 
Knot in Front of the Children, a 1970s anti-smoking cartoon
Programme 3 – 19.45 
Them in the Thing, a cracking amateur science fiction film made by Desmond Leslie with his children in Castle Leslie in 1955 (Programme 3).
