CAN YOU EVER FORGIVE ME? (WILD STRAWBERRIES) Director: MARIELLE HELLER 106 mins, USA, 2018, Digital Book cinema tickets This film screened on 29th & 31st January 2020. This film is F-Rated. The comic talents of Melissa McCarthy (Bridesmaids, Ghostbusters) are well known but as Lee Israel, an out-of-vogue biographer, she untypically and brilliantly plays a curmudgeonly, hard drinking, but ultimately empathetic character. Richard E. Grant plays Jack, perfect in his alcoholic, yet stylish disarray, a foil to Lee’s forgery plans. Based on a real true story, director Heller paints a ramshackle pre-gentrified New York, in which this odd pair, find themselves adrift together. McCarthy and Grant both received Oscar nominations for their performances. Wild Strawberries is our film club for over 55s. Tickets: €5.50 including regular tea/coffee before the event. If you happen to look younger, please don’t take offence if we ask your age. Notes by Alicia McGivern Director: MARIELLE HELLER 106 mins, USA, 2018, Digital
