Irish Film Institute -AFTERNOON TALK: WHAT’S FILM EDUCATION?

AFTERNOON TALK: WHAT’S FILM EDUCATION?

In this afternoon talk, Alicia McGivern and Thomas McGraw-Lewis of IFI Education will give an overview of film education in Ireland with particular reference to the IFI Education programme, the place of film and moving image in primary and secondary school curricula and the findings of IFI’s two-year action research project, Film Focus. Considering the place of film within the increasingly mediated landscape of contemporary society, they will consider the importance of media literacy as an essential aim of contemporary education but also the role of film within such an education.

This talk will be of interest not only to teachers and educators but anyone with a general interest in new ideas to broaden and enrich learning and teaching with film.

This event is FREE but ticketed. Please call the IFI Box Office on 01 679 3477  or email boxoffice@irishfilm.ie to reserve your seat.
