IFI celebrates Culture Night September 22nd 2017 with three free programmes of family-friendly Irish shorts. The programmes include a colourful array of material from the IFI Irish Film Archive with a focus on films featuring children and young people from the 1950s to the present day. Offering audiences a whistle-stop tour of the history of Irish short film production the programme includes newsreels, ads, public information films, animations and short dramas. Highlights include Clubs are Trumps (1959), a film about a boys club in Thomas St; Flying Saucer Rock n’Roll (1998), a 1950s sci-fi pastiche; and The Life of Reilly (1954), a cautionary tale about accidents in the home.
