The Dublin: One City One Book for 2017 has been chosen, Joe Joyce’s Echoland.
Set in Dublin during the days of World War 2, with the populace divided in their opinion of the Axis and Allied sides and committed to remaining neutral.
Into this heady mix comes young lieutenant Paul Duggan. Tasked with investigating a possible German spy, he’s also forced to contend with a kidnapping and a partner from Special Branch.
To celebrate the new One City One Book choice, we’re welcoming author Joe Joyce to the IFI for our Archive at Lunchtime Double Bill on April 1st at 13.10. He’ll introduce the screening, which focuses on a selection of films shot in Ireland during and just after the Second World War. Our Archive at Lunchtime shows are free, and tickets can be picked up from box office any time.
On top of that, we’ve also got copies of Echoland to give away to some lucky readers – with thanks to New Island Books. All you have to do to be in with a chance of winning is answer the simple question below and fill in your details.
Q. What conflict is Echoland set during?
