This high-octane, hit fantasy thriller pits post glasnost Muscovites battling forces of dark and light. Borrowing liberally from The Matrix and Star Wars, its Russian sensibility remains evident among the wheeling camera shots and death metal soundtrack.

Dr Aidan Power will consider European science fiction and how films such as this have interpreted the Hollywood model for a local audience.

This event is taking place as part of the From Russia with Film Evening Course which runs from March 21st to April 25th at the IFI.
