In 2014 Ken Loach announced his retirement after 50 years of filmmaking. The following year the Conservative Party came back into power, reason enough for him to come out of retirement to begin work on his new film, I, Daniel Blake (which has just been awarded the Palme d’Or at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival). Versus chronicles the crusading director’s preparations for this film, while reflecting on his career – from the controversies surrounding the TV film Cathy Come Home (1966), to international recognition culminating in the Palme d’Or at Cannes for The Wind that Shakes the Barley (2006).

‘Pay What You Can’ Screening.

The screening on June 5th will be operated on a ‘pay what you can’ model to reflect Ken Loach’s ethos. There will be a collection box by the Box Office on that day and tickets will be available on a first-come-first-served basis. No advance bookings can be made online or in person.
