Out of Here Wins IFI Open Day Audience Poll 2015!

In a list that included films by the Dardenne brothers and Jean-Luc Godard, we are delighted to announce the winner of this year’s IFI Open Day Audience Choice is the Irish film Out of Here. Over 2,500 votes have been cast since the polls opened, and Out of Here beat off stiff competition, with the second place runner-up being the explosive Whiplash. Other popular titles included Birdman, Boyhood, Obvious Child, and The Tale Of The Princess Kaguya.

This year’s winning film deservedly won Director Donal Foreman JDIFF’s CineTALENT award last spring for his brilliant, zeitgeisty vision of Dublin’s youth. College dropout Ciaran (Fionn Walton) returns from Asia and, over the course of a week, reintroduces himself to friends, family, and the Dublin city he left behind. Uncomfortable living at home with his parents, new flame Melissa (Aoife Duffin) offers excitement, but his true hope is to reconnect with ex-girlfriend Jess (Annabell Rickerby). You can watch the trailer for Out of Here below.

Thanks to everyone who cast their votes. Tickets for Out of Here (and all other IFI Open Day screenings) are free of charge and will become available at 11am on June 20th at the IFI only (not available online or by phone). Maximum of four tickets per person (all allocated on a first come, first served basis). Arrive early as tickets are expected to go quickly!
