“Infinitely intriguing fare” ★★★★★ The Irish Times “If you like slow thrillers that stubbornly refuse to explain themselves, you’ll love Denis Villeneuve’s Enemy.” ★★★★ Irish Independent “A thrilling take on the doppelganger theme” ★★★★ The Guardian
Released in the wake of the success of Prisoners (2013), the excellent Enemy, which was director Denis Villeneuve’s first collaboration with Jake Gyllenhaal, is a very different proposition. Filmed in sickly hues, its take on the doppelgänger is reminiscent of the work of David Lynch, filled with mounting tension, psychological dread, and abstract imagery, leading to what will undoubtedly prove to be one of the year’s most unexpected and striking endings.
