Tennessee Williams’ A Streetcar Named Desire is this month’s presentation in National Theatre Live, a series of live performances from London’s most prestigious theatres, broadcast onto cinema screens globally. Having won the Critics’ Circle award for his work on Chekhov’s Three Sisters, director Benedict Andrews takes on Williams’ most moving play with Gillian Anderson (The X-Files, The Fall) as disturbed Blanche DuBois, Ben Foster (Lone Survivor, Kill Your Darlings) as Stanley and Vanessa Kirby as Stella. Having broken records already as the fastest-selling production in the Young Vic’s history, there is no better time to revisit this timeless story of vulnerability, fury and delusion.
