CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON Director: ANG LEE 120 minutes, U.S.A.-China, 2000, Subtitled, Colour, 35mm Book cinema tickets This screening will be introduced by Head of IFI Education, Alicia McGivern. Ang Lee’s Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is, even more than many of the other titles in this season, one of the key films in the IFI’s history over the last 20 years. It was a huge breakout hit that brought many people through our doors for the first time, and helped establish in the public’s mind IFI cinemas as a refreshing and equally entertaining alternative to the mainstream films of the multiplex. It’s no surprise, really, as the film is one of the most exhilarating and impressively graceful of martial arts movies, and demands to be seen on the big screen. (Notes by Kevin Coyne.) This film is screening as part of 20/20: Landmark Films at the IFI which is part of IFI20: Celebrating 20 Years in Temple Bar.
