IFI TALKS: AFTER THE MONSTER PART I: CINEMA, ART AND ACCOUNTABILITY

Opening our series on what do with the work of problematic creators, Monsters and the Fan’s Dilemma explores what happens when the art we love becomes entangled with troubling knowledge about its creator.

Inspired by Claire Dederer’s book Monsters: A Fan’s Dilemma, the evening begins with a virtual keynote from Dederer, followed by a panel with writer Dave Rudden, author and podcaster Sophie White, and moral philosopher Farbod Akhlaghi. Together they’ll explore admiration, memory, and moral unease, asking whether it’s possible – or even desirable – to separate the art from the artist.

Series curated by journalist Roe McDermott
