The Marching Band is a wonderful, music-filled drama about two brothers who find one another in midlife, as one needs a bone marrow transplant. As they get to know one another, despite very different pasts, they find a friendship and bond, on a shared music journey, negotiating medical treatment on the one hand, and dealing with the imminent closure of the town’s factory on the other. Humour, music, life events and sibling affections combine to make for a hugely absorbing and enjoyable film.
