Against the backdrop of the 1993 Nigerian election crisis, two young brothers, Akin and Remi, accompany their estranged father, Folarin (Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù), on a journey through the sprawling metropolis of Lagos as he tries to reclaim unpaid wages while all around them political tensions threaten to reach boiling point. Unfolding over the course of a single day, Akinola Davies Jr’s extraordinary, semi-autobiographical debut feature explores family bonds, identity, memory, and fatherhood.
