(L’INTÉRÊT D’ADAM)

Head nurse Lucy (Léa Drucker) works in an understaffed pediatric ward where four-year-old Adam has been admitted for malnutrition. His mother Rebecca (Anamaria Vartolomei) is forbidden access to her son, yet she stays by his side. Lucy strives to care for both, hoping Rebecca can avoid losing custody. Belgian writer-director Laura Wandel (Playground, 2021) continues her sensitive exploration of children’s wellbeing within institutional settings. The role of parents in the healing process is filmed from Lucy’s perspective, exposing systemic violence, rigid institutional boundaries, and moral dilemmas.
