Irish Film Institute -IFI FAMILY FESTIVAL 2025: THE TALE OF DAYE’S FAMILY

IFI FAMILY FESTIVAL 2025: THE TALE OF DAYE’S FAMILY

Director: Karim El-Shinnawi

104 mins, Egypt-Saudi Arabia, 2024, Drama, Digital, Subtitled

(Daye: Seret Ahl El Daye)

IFI Age Recommendation: 10+

14-year-old Daye is a golden-voiced Nubian boy with Albinism. Bullied in school, he is encouraged by a teacher to enter The Voice competition in Cairo. His traditional mother is not so sure and but, eventually conceding, she and his rebellious sister join Daye on a precarious, but humorous, journey to Cairo, bound by love and belief in his incredible voice. Hilarious scenes mixed with soaring song, as the little group make their way to Cairo, make for a memorable cinema experience.

Come early and try for IFI’s Got Talent before the show! Step before our Green Scene set up in the foyer and transport yourself to the stage!

Screening as part of IFI Family Festival 2025.
