That music can change a life is no unusual theme, but it’s not so often the result is a drama touching on politics, family and race, as well as being a poignant comingof-age story too.

Director Gurinder Chadha successfully pulls it all together, taking the story of a young Asian man finding his way against a backdrop of Bruce Springsteen music. If you’ve ever been a fan of The Boss, or even looked to music to provide comfort or meaning, you’ll find much to enjoy in this rapturous, feelgood film.
