Add your name, or that of a loved one, to a seat in our newly refurbished Cinema 1!

Show your love for the IFI by joining your fellow film fans and adding your name, or that of a loved one, to a seat in Cinema 1.

Naming a seat is a fantastic way to demonstrate your appreciation for the IFI, celebrate the memory of someone who had a passion for film, or mark a special occasion with a unique gift. We very much welcome support from our corporate community too.

By naming a seat, you help to keep our unique 18th century building fit for screening the best in independent, Irish and international cinema. You contribute directly to the ongoing refurbishment and maintenance of our historic space. Your support ensures that the IFI can direct our revenues towards our non-profit activities, such as our nation-wide education programmes, and the preservation of Ireland’s moving image heritage.

With a donation of €300 you will be invited to add your name to a seat in Cinema 1 for three years. Businesses are invited to join us at the level of €500 for three years.

Gifting Details:

Whether celebrating a wedding, wishing a happy birthday, announcing a new arrival, or looking for an alternative Christmas present – dedicating a seat to a friend or family member is a lasting way to show that you care.

Seat naming will commence at a date of your choosing. The IFI can provide gift certificates for all seat naming donors and the recipients of their gift. Seat plaques have been designed by local artists Fiona Snow and Michael Mohler of SNOW Studio.

Please note:

  • Seat naming length is maximum 60 characters.
  • The IFI reserves the right to approve and amend Name a Seat plaque inscriptions.
  • The location of seat plaques within the auditorium will be allocated by the IFI.
  • The naming of a seat does not entitle the reservation or use of that seat for any screening.
  • Admission to events is not included; all tickets must be purchased separately, unless otherwise stated.
  • It can take up to six weeks to install your plaque; IFI will inform you when it has been installed and will be in touch to arrange a suitable time viewing time.
