Gaining impressive access to lawyers, investigators, victims and gangsters, Emmy-winning filmmaker Joe Berlinger uses famous Irish-American criminal ‘Whitey’ Bulger’s recent trial as an opportunity to explore corruption in law enforcement and scrutinise the myth around Bulger. Berlinger deftly handles complex and often contradictory evidence to create a riveting and frightening picture of Bulger’s reign and how exactly he survived for so long.
