REPULSION (EVENING COURSE: READING PICTURES) Director: ROMAN POLANSKI 105 minutes, U.K., 1965, Drama/ Horror/Thriller, Director: Roman Polanski Book cinema tickets This film screened on Wednesday 18th March 2015. Filmmaker Roman Polanski has sustained a singular vision and style throughout his career. By using the basics of cinema – picture, sound and editing – he aims to put the audience inside the head of the character. In this psychological drama a young woman is beset by demons when left alone in an apartment. Writer, director and lecturer Steven Benedict will discuss how Polanski conveys her torment, and how this technique is echoed in other films, such as Martin Scorcese’s Raging Bull. This event is taking place as part of the IFI Evening Course, Reading Pictures (Tuesdays, March 3rd – April 7th). Full course price: €70 (€65 concessions), including tea/coffee. Please book your place by calling Sharon Corrigan on 01 679 5744 or emailing scorrigan@irishfilm.ie (individual tickets for films on this Course are not available.)
