MOON MAN (OPENS DEC 27TH)

95 minutes, France-Germany-Ireland, 2012, Colour, D-Cinema

This film opens on Friday, December 27th. Tickets are on sale now.

While their parents have forgotten the man who lives in the moon, the children are comforted saying goodnight to him before they go to sleep. Yet Moon Man is too far away to know this, bored up in the sky all alone. He decides to hitch a ride on the tail of a passing comet, and lands on Earth. This is taken as an aggressive act by some grown-ups who have their own agenda in space, so Moon Man has to look to the children who love him for help.

Faithfully adapted from Tomi Ungerer’s children’s book (a documentary about the artist, Far Out Isn’t Far Enough: The Tomi Ungerer Story also screens at IFI this month) and a treat for all the family, Moon Man is the latest charming and distinctive animated feature from the Oscar nominated producers of The Secret of Kells, Kilkenny-based Cartoon Saloon. (Notes By Michael Hayden.)

Far Out Isn’t Far Enough: The Tomi Ungerer Story opens at the IFI on December 13th. Ungerer will visit the IFI and take part in a Q&A following the 18.30 screening of this film on December 13th.

Don’t forget we now schedule weekly.
