Director: TOMM MOORE

75 minutes, France/Belgium/Ireland, 2009, Animation/Family/Fantasy

For St. Patrick’s Festival, we are showing the Oscar-nominated film The Secret of Kells from Kilkenny’s Cartoon Saloon. With beautiful and intricate hand-drawn animation, it tells the story of young monk Brendan who is learning how to illuminate manuscripts. His uncle, the Abbot Kellach, has forbidden him to go outside the monastery walls for fear of Vikings.

One day a Brother Aidan shows up with a book he is trying to complete. When Brendan goes into the forest to get berries for ink, he meets Aisling a spirit girl. She leads him into the heart of the woodland where he gets inspiration to complete the Book of Kells

Tickets: €4.80 per person, €14.40 family ticket (2 adults + 2 children/1 adult + 3 children)
