Greendale, Death of a School

Aoibheann O’Sullivan documents the final months before the closure of Greendale Community School in Kilbarrack. Known to many as the school associated with novelists and playwrights, the school was established in the early 1970’s, and served by a committed and idealistically driven staff, many of whom had remained at the school throughout its existence. As the staff prepares to turn out the lights for the last time, the empty classrooms and silent corridors are a poignant reminder of the many hopes and dreams that once filled these now all-too-quiet spaces.

Director Aoibheann O’Sullivan will introduce the film.
