The first film in the iconic cavalry trilogy, Fort Apache is one of Ford’s most celebrated Westerns. Loosely based on Custer’s Last Stand, Fort Apache stars John Wayne and Henry Fonda as two ideologically opposed officers, whose antagonism could have grave consequences for those stationed at their remote outpost.
