This film screened 23rd March 2016.
The first in a three-part programme that seeks to examine the possibilities of collectivism through a diverse selection of recent works, AEMI Projections presents Paris-based artist Marylène Negro’s X+, an intricate and provocative collage-work that combines material from ten key works of the counter-culture movement of the ‘60s and ‘70s.
The film historian Nicole Brenez has described how X+ reveals a new politics of cinema, and raises the question “at what point does history start shaking?”
A screening series curated by Alice Butler and Daniel Fitzpatrick.
