TY WORK EXPERIENCE

Applications for IFI TY Work Experience 2025-2026 are now open. 

IFI TY Work Experience will run for one week only, from Jan 19th  – Jan 23rd 2026 , during which time you will work as part of a TY group to programme and run a film event for your classmates, to take place at the IFI on April 30th 2026.

How many placements?

There are 10 places for the week.

Who will I work with?

If selected you will work as part of the TY group. The programme will be lead by IFI Education.

Where will I be based?

You will be based in the IFI building on Eustace Street, Temple Bar, Dublin 2, though you may be asked to work remotely some of the time.

Will I need to bring anything?

You will need a tablet or laptop. If you get a place and you don’t have a tablet or laptop, please let us know.

What will I do?

You will create a film event for TY students, to take place on April 30th 2026 at the IFI.

Will my school need to do anything?

Your classmates should be prepared to attend the film event in the morning of April 30th so do talk to your teacher about this element in advance of applying. For the week you just need to bring your usual school TY placement paperwork.

How will I do that?

You will be required to programme, develop, market and deliver the event, with the group. You will hear from IFI Ed., Marketing, Programming and Projection

Will there be filmmaking? 

The focus of your placement will be film exhibition – showing film – and not film production. There may be small elements of filmmaking to promote your event.

Will it be fun?
