Winter living proves difficult for a flock of indolent seagulls in this animated short. Ably sustained by discarded fast food throughout the summer months, the cold of winter finds the seagulls, unable to win food for themselves, creeping around the catch of a local fisherman. Only Johnny, the boldest of the flock, proves willing to try something different. Animated in a hand-drawn style Learning to Fish hides a parable about self-sufficiency beneath an amusing tale of an embattled animal.
