The figure of the returned emigrant appears here in this bittersweet short about the difficulty of renewing a friendship cut short by Northern Ireland’s violent period. After twenty-five years of married life in America, Joe (Ciarán Hinds) returns to his old home with his daughter, happy to be back but hoping to avoid childhood friend Paddy (Conleth Hill) and his wife, once Joe’s fiancé, Mary (Maggie Cronin). A story about the difficulty of facing the ghosts of the past, director Terry George’s previous credits included the renowned Hotel Rwanda.
