GAZE PRESENTS: UNMASCED – A Celebration of Lesbian and Trans-Masc Visibility in Cinema in partnership with the Irish Film Institute.
GAZE International LGBTQIA+ Film Festival in partnership with the Irish Film Institute presents UNMASCED, a celebration of lesbian and trans-masc visibility in cinema. The day-long event will showcase queer lives through two captivating documentaries and a selection of incredible short films spanning genres, continents and decades.
The programme includes:
13.30 – Outitude (2018) – A multi-award winning documentary which charts the richness of lesbian grass-roots activism, collectives, community, academia and politics across the island of Ireland from the 1970’s to the present day.
15.30 – Scannáin Sapphic – A selection of Irish sapphic shorts from the GAZE archive.
18.15 – Butches and Boys – An eclectic international shorts programme platforming the stories of butches, studs, mascs and trans mascs.
20.30 – Beyond The Aggressives: 25 Years Later (2023) – A revisiting of four subjects from the groundbreaking 2005 documentary The Aggressives, which centres masculine-presenting people of colour assigned female at birth.
