When Will Ferrell finds out Harper Steele, his close friend of 30 years, is coming out as a trans woman, the two decide to embark on a cross-country road trip to process this new stage of their relationship. The pair plan to drive from New York to Los Angeles, stopping at sites of personal significance to her, as well as at an assortment of dive bars and restaurants where’s Will must negotiate his celebrity as he stands by his friend in some less than welcoming environments. Josh Greenbaum amiable, insightful documentary is an affectionate and poignant exploration of a true friendship.
